This year the students of Vision Male Ensemble, DSA Lady Achievers, and Concert have been extended the opportunity to travel to New York City to participate in the WorldStrides Heritage Festival. This festival is a national choir competition where choirs from around the country will come to compete for the opportunity to win the Gold Medal. Gold Medal winners of this nationally adjudicated choral competition are invited back the following year to be a part of the Festival of Gold often held at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall, Schermerhorn Symphony Center (Nashville), and Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall (San Francisco).
In an effort to make sure that every student has the opportunity to go, we are looking for your financial support to help offset the cost per student and also help students whose families simply cannot afford the cost of this trip. Studies show that students who travel are 32% more likely to go to college and 21% more likely to be employed full-time.
Please consider donating to the Detroit School of Arts Vocal Department to offset the cost of this once in a lifetime experience for our students. The cost per student is $1,400.00 which includes their transportation, lodging, all meals, competition fee, masterclass fee, a Broadway show, College Visits to NYU and Manhattan School of Music, sightseeing including the World Trade Center Memorial, Rockefeller Center, Time Square, Broadway Museum, the Apollo Theatre, the homes of Duke Ellington, Langston Hughes, Charlie Parker and more.
